DJ Moneyshot and Parker - Vulture Magnetics
Moneyshot teams up with his live, four turntable mixing buddy, and XFM radio show co-presenter, Parker for another barnstorming mix. Done in sections, each DJ piecied together an elaborate ten minute set then posted it to the other. This created an atmosphere of ego and expectation that meant each of them would try and outshine the segment they'd just been sent, until the mixes were so tight and deadly that they scared each other witless. Listen in, you can almost hear the cogs whirring in their minds as the mix steams along. Full copies, with all artwork and that, are still available from the Catapult Records online store.

Mother's Pride
"Now then, young man. Have you been playing with my records again?"
"Fuck off mum. You never play 'em, and there's some fucking tasty breaks in there!"
Doubtless this is a conversation that occurs in many a young DJs household. Your old ma is sat on some dusty vinyl treasures and she won't let you cut the bally Hell out of them on the ones and twos.
Fear not, your man Moneyshot has swiped the crates and stayed out past his bedtime to piece together his follow up to 2005's award-winning mix Mother's Ruin, with this gem of a set, Mother's Pride.
The usual collection of pop, lounge, easy listening, British blues, new wave, rock, psych and metal has been plundered, but the artists are a little (but not too much) more classy this time around. Peep the track listing, cop the mix, start making that racket and wake the neighbours.

Two Fag Mix
We have it on good authority from the man himself that this
is Moneyshot’s best mix to date. Commissioned by James
Hyman for his Rinse show on Xfm, and blended under the proviso
that he crossed more boundaries than a whiz-addled fell runner.
Well, that’s a freaking given, aint it? Old school rave
‘mashed up’ (as I believe the kids are calling
it) over Young MC, The Temptations left to croon over super
pitched down drum and bass and David Bowie taking us Back
To The Hip-Hop. Pin back your lug holes, don’t be a
wazzock and play it loud. |

Magnetic Fields
Forever
Originally created for the urban tailors down at the hip and
hap’nin’ Magnetic Clothing website to give away
as an exclusive CD with every purchase (go on, buy a hat and
get it free with artwork on the CD and everything), and then
boomed out over the Solid Steel airwaves for mad peeps to
hear. A real treat of a mix taking in original jazz samples
worked into dope hip-hop, trendy indie, classic rock and the
unlikely pairing of UK barnstormers Hijack running riot over
Steppenwolf. Get up and get involved...today! |

Mixed Ape
Originally created for James Hyman’s dopemazing ‘Rinse’
show on radio station Xfm, but now archived on this very site
so you can see what all the fuss was about. Prepare to be
bowled over and left with a pin sticking out your arse as
Moneyshot comes out the gates with the oddball selection that
never fails to raise an eyebrow and the blood pressure. Highlights
include re-evaluated crooner Andy Williams morphing into beaty
tweak wizards Pressure Drop and Stevie Wonder riding some
B-Boy breaks. Once again packed with choice acapellas remixes
that should have someone tapping this guy up to start making
bootlegs.

Mother's Ruin
Quite simply the most original mix ever to have been conceived.
Killer tunes from people that you'd walk over the street to
punch in the face: Bruce Forsyth, Cliff Richard, Lulu, The
Carpenters, The Bee Gees, The Eagles...but here's the hook
- every track is absolutely dope.
And if you find that hard to swallow then check these glowing
testimonies: "To be honest I think the choice
of tracks on this mix is nothing short of fantastic."
- DJ Yoda "It's one of the most original beat
digging excursions we've heard in a long while. Certainly
a contender for mix of the year." - Solid Steel Radio
Show "An absolute corker! My favourite mix
this year so far. It's what the Guilty Pleasures club should
be like if any of the DJs they put on could mix." - Strictly
Kev (DJ Food)
This mix is a lazy beat diggers dream. Moneyshot has got his
fingers dusty in lofts, second-hand shops and skips just for
you. Enjoy.

Pitch Invasion
- A Hustler Allstars Mix
Moneyshot shares four decks and two mixers with his fellow
AND-1 tour DJ, Parker. Together they run up to a blistering
drum and bass sound via hip-hop and breaks. All finished off
with hype scratches and dope acapellas thrown in the mix.
A good representation of their club rocking sound. Listen
and learn.

Blacktrix
– Count of Monte Cristo
Another banger from ‘Trix, whose ‘Indian Rope

100% Homegrown show on 1Xtra. Watch for this guy, it’s
a flow to die for. Moneyshot is on hand to complement the
track with scratches from a variety of sources.

Secondson
feat Ralph Ripshit – Ralph’s Party
The mighty Secondson supplies the party beats for the ever
amusing Mr. Ripshit to vent his spleen on the Turner Prize,
his girl (who has “a muff like a monkey’s mouth”)
and anyone who thinks they can take him on at Sensible Soccer.
Moneyshot digs up the phrases that pay and cuts them up mad
nice on the chorus.
